*Boating in Annapolis last Saturday
*Karl Lagerfeld’s twitter profile
*The Bloomingdale’s lingerie department…and shoe department…and basically the entire store!
*Eating deliciously fresh mangoes
*Outdoor movies! Check out this comprehensive list for DC summer 2011 (such a fun summer date idea)!
*Discovering Ed Westwick’s thoughts on tattoos, “they’re addictive. Get one. You’ll never look back. Live fast, die young. Be a good looking corpse. Leave a good-looking tattoo.”(as seen in City Brewed) Amen!
*Reading Marie Claire (I’m always very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the editorial content!)
*Eating a deliciously bad hot dog at the Nats v Orioles game on Sunday
*Lusting over Johnny Depp in the new Pirates of The Caribbean movie (the man can pull off eyeliner. enough said.)

Inspirational quotations about art and creativity…
“Each of us is an artist of our days; the greater our integrity & awareness, the more original and creative our time will become.”
-John O’Donohue
“Art washes from the soul the dust of every day life.”
-Pablo Picasso
“I am my own work of art. I am my own experiment.”
-Madonna

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable, originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery-celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Goddard said: “It’s not where you take things from, it’s where you take them to’.”
-Jim Jarmusch
I’m starting a new tradition of monthly “Outfit Posts” (Goal: be able to legitimately call this a fashion blog). For May I’ve chosen a Navy Lacoste wrap dress, gold bangles, gold Jack Rogers sandals, and gold Michael Kors clutch. Photos were taken in DC’s Shaw neighborhood courtesy of Le Boyfriend.
Have a great Saturday night!!

A brief collection of cool quotes about food…
“Forget love, I’d rather fall in chocolate.”
-Unknown
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
-Virginia Woolf
“Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.”
-Voltaire
“Desserts are like mistresses. They are bad for you. So if you are having one,
you might as well have two.”
– Chef Alain Ducasse
“The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in it’s evocation of innocence and delight.”
– MFK Fisher
“Leave the gun. Take the cannolis.”
– Clemenza, in The Godfather
Amen. Wishing you all a weekend of deliciousness!
Here’s a little roundup of last week’s fabulousness…

Digging in to amazing sushi (just looking at this makes me hungry)! If you are ever in Nashville you MUST visit Sushi Yobi and sample their Whiskey on The Rocks Roll like I did last week, it is the prettiest yummiest sushi experience you will ever have!

Devouring this MOUNTAIN of strawberries at my sister’s graduation party was absolutely heavenly…as was the Champagne that accompanied it!

Reuniting with my mom and sister always makes me smile 🙂

Visiting the beautiful DC Botanical Gardens was lovely, highly recommend!

Rooftop bars + cool chandeliers = bliss! I absolutely can’t get enough of The W Hotel in DC or the antler chandeliers they have hanging from the wall…how cool are these?!

Last but not least, I love slipping on your hot new summer heels for the first time…and then having everyone make fun of you as you walk back to your car barefoot, aforementioned torture devices slung over one shoulder…on a dirty city sidewalk…I truly am a hippie in high heels!

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
-Samuel Beckett
From jobs to boys to ice cream flavors, I feel strongly that wishy washyness is a terrible and dangerous affliction. As someone who used to routinely find herself drowning in pro con lists and feelings of self-doubt, take it from me: listening to your gut is always, I repeat, ALWAYS the best course of action.
Here are some useful tips for tuning into that inner voice:
*Ask the question right before you go to sleep and see how you feel in the morning
*Free write in your journal
*Consult a pendulum
*Write down what you think you’re ideal self would do
Now repeat after me: No FOMO (fear of missing out, isn’t that great?!) and go ahead and make the decision already!
“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves as well. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen accidents, meetings and material assistance that no one could have dreamed would come their way. Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”
– Goethe
